Occupied (2026) is my second collaboration with visual artist Jinjoo Yang. In creating the sound and composing the music for this work, I focused closely on the visual material, allowing the imagery to guide my sonic decisions. Rather than illustrating the video directly, I sought to develop a musical language that resonated with my own response to the work.
The piece explores a wide spectrum of frequencies as a primary compositional element, from subtle high-frequency textures to powerful sub-bass vibrations. The interaction and coexistence of these frequency ranges became a central organizing principle of the soundscape, shaping both its structure and its expressive character.
