Music Theory I | Fall 2023

Music Theory I | MUSIC-UA 201

Welcome to Music Theory I! Please read the syllabus in the material folder (Dropbox). In a nutshell, we will be covering two major topics—species counterpoint and tonal harmony. There are four modules, and at the end of each module, there will be an exam to assess your progress. I don’t believe that achieving a perfect score is the most important goal. Instead, I would like to see you make improvements. As long as you are making progress and meet the expectations at the end of the semester, you should be satisfied with your grade. So, please don’t worry, work hard, and you’ll do well. I am not here to judge you; I am here to help you learn. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. I may not be able to respond during the weekend, but I aim to reply to any emails within 24 hours on weekdays.
